25th Aug – Bamberg

This is a day of rest for the author and reader alike.

I chose to remain on the ship and take a little vacation from my vacation!

  • No lanyards about my neck.
  • No click…click…clicking of the camera all the while hoping I will remember why and where I took the photo.
  • No circling the stalled Red Group like an orca corralling dinner, anxious to move on to the next sight and/or site.

Just resting, writing and relaxation.

So log out, MDR, and seek solace elsewhere on the Internet today. Ciao for now.

Oh! Hold on a minute!

Rob has commented several times that he doesn’t know what he has been doing on this vacation until he’s read the blog.
Since he explored Bamberg while I abstained, it’s only fair that I accede to his request and give the town, and his visit thereof, its due.

Many of the houses have a canal as a front yard. Rowers frequent the waterways

The Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) sits on an island with arched bridges joining it to both the political/business side of town and the religious/residential side. On one side of the tower gate is a smaller extension with the intricate lattice-work of timber framing projecting over the river. (l.) Another side of the building is elaborately decorated with illustrations. (r.) The main entrance on the secular side of the building is center.
