The Great Rivers of Europe

Once again, we are crossing The Pond for another one of Dave and Rob’s (and Carol’s) Excellent European Adventures. There are new lands to explore – the Netherlands and Austria – and we revisit the Fatherland albeit in an entirely new area of the country.

Two years ago, we explored what had formerly been Soviet East Germany. Now, it is the Allied Occupation zones of post WWII West Germany that beckon.

Below is a map of the three Great Rivers of Europe (the Rhine, the Main and the Danube) we will (water-level permitting) be cruising. Starting in Amsterdam, we will disembark in Vienna sixteen days later.

The M/S Adagio will be both our home and our primary restaurant for the entire trip, although we plan on at least tasting some of the local cuisine at every opportunity.

Oh…and, of course, let us not forget sampling the local beer: “liquid bread” to medieval Teutons. And, considering the German terroir we will traversing, the wonderful world of Rhine wines is also on the agenda.
